AWARD WINNING MAGICIAN

When you look at the websites of different magicians, the first thing you'll notice is virtually all of them are "award winning".  So just in case you've ever wondered how so many different magicians can have managed to win awards - let me try and explain.   You see, most towns have their own magic society where all the local magicians meet up, and all those magic societies stage annual competitions both for stage entertainers and for close-up magic.  Naturally, any performer who has won one of these local competitions can legitimately call themselves an award winning magician.  I've even heard of one "award winning" magician who uses the phrase on the grounds that he's a magician and he once won a bronze award for swimming!  Of course, there are a few very prestigious national and international awards for magicians too - so it's always worth checking to see exactly which award a magician has won.  If their website doesn't say - it was almost certainly a local competition in their home town.

As this website describes me as an award winning magician (surprise surprise) - I better, therefore, give you the details of my own awards.   The first national award I won was the close-up award of the British Ring of The International Brotherhood of Magicians - the largest magic society in the world.  Other previous winners of this award include Paul Daniels and Wayne Dobson, both of whom went on to achieve great success on British TV.  I was also the winner of the British Close-Up Magic Championships, staged at the largest magicians convention in the world in front of an audience of 2000 other magicians.  I narrowly missed out on the bronze award for swimming.

CLOSE-UP MAGIC ... and where I can perform it

As a professional magician, I’m often asked if it would be possible for me to perform close-up magic in some pretty unlikely venues.  So far – I’ve always been able to answer yes!  One of the big advantages of close-up magic, is that it’s probably the only type of entertainment that can be performed (almost) anywhere at all. To give you a few ideas, here are some of the more unusual locations where I’ve entertained as close-up magician:  a moving train, a narrow boat, a castle, a cave, a dungeon, a haunted house, a zoo, a meat pie factory, a call centre, a train station, a museum, a bus, a car showroom, a warehouse, a supermarket, a library, a beach party, a fire station ... and in the moat of The Tower of London!   So, no matter how unique the venue for your event, a close-up magician will have no problem providing memorable entertainment to amaze your guests.
